Aims of the School
The true values of budo are losing ground nowadays because in karatedo too much emphasis is being put either on form alone, or on competition. The aims of the Kenkokan school are to foster a strong technical knowledge of both karate ho and buki ho and at the same time to instill in each student a strong character and will, power, courtesy and courage, and a drive for self-perfection. These goals are summarized by the slogans of the school: "Spiritual development of the individuality in mind and body," "Effective use of creation for all," and "The fist the creator of life," which encapsulate the concern of the Shorinjiryu Kenkokan school for personal development both mental and physical, according to one's own personality and needs.
